The Swiss Code of Obligations is a central code of Swiss civil law that regulates the legal relationships between private individuals. It includes five books that cover various aspects of contract law, law of obligations and property law, including the formation, content and termination of contracts, as well as liability for breach of contract and tort. The Code of Obligations is an important code of law for business and everyday life in Switzerland, as it forms the basis for many legal relationships and contracts and has been in force since 1912, whereby it is regularly adapted to social and economic developments.

Art. 877 Notification of accessions and departures for entry in the commercial register
1 Where the members have limited or unlimited liability for the cooperative’s debts or are liable to make additional contributions, the board must notify every accession or departure of a member for entry in the commercial register within three months.
2 Further, every departing or excluded member and the heirs of a member have the right to have the member’s departure, exclusion or death entered in the register on their initiative. The commercial register office must immediately notify the cooperative’s board of any such notification.
3 Licensed insurance cooperatives are exempt from the duty to notify their members for entry in the commercial register.
