The Swiss Criminal Code (StGB) is the central law that regulates criminal acts and the corresponding penalties in Switzerland. It covers a wide range of criminal offenses, ranging from theft to assault and fraud. The Criminal Code also establishes the principles of criminal liability, such as, for example, guilt and punishability. It also regulates the various types of penalties that can be imposed, such as fines, imprisonment or community service. The Criminal Code serves as the basis for criminal prosecution and case law in Switzerland.
